Final design and preparation of construction drawings and specifications to modify the Tampa Avenue interchange from a half-diamond to a full-diamond, the reconstruction of Tampa Avenue to a three-lane curb-and-gutter section with wide sidewalks and four-laning SR 408 EB from John Young Parkway to OBT. This project also involves relocating the existing EB exit ramp to OBT and reconstructing it as a braided ramp over Tampa Avenue EB on-ramp and Rio Grande Avenue to tie into Carter Street. This project involves three (3) new bridges and four (4) bridge widenings. Additional elements include noise walls and two new AET gantries.

Final design and preparation of construction drawings and specifications to widen SR 408 from Good Homes Road to Hiawassee Road. The project added one lane in each direction to provide for six general-use lanes and milled and resurfaced all the existing pavement within the project limits. Twin bridges over Hiawassee Road were widened to the median, SR 408 westbound bridge over Lake Sherwood was widened to the outside and noise walls were provided along certain segments along the corridor.

Final design and preparation of construction drawings and specifications to widen 4.1 miles of SR 417 from International Drive to John Young Parkway. This project adds one general-use lane and one Part Time Shoulder Use (PTSU) lane in each direction. All mainline bridges within the project limits, Hunter’s Vista Boulevard, Shingle Creek, Town Loop Boulevard and John Young Parkway, were widened to accommodate proposed improvements. Additional elements include noise walls, modifications to the John Young Parkway toll plaza and milling and resurfacing of all existing pavement within the project limits.

Final design and preparation of construction drawings and specifications for the proposed improvements to SR 29 from CR 80A (Cowboy Way) to CR 731 (Whidden Road). The project is currently undergoing a PD&E re-evaluation to assess feasibility of maintaining Bridge Street and Main Street (south of Caloosahatchee River) as two-way pairs. The improvements north of the river to Whidden Road will involve widening SR 29 to four lanes. This project will also involve replacing the existing movable bridge with a new one in the same location and adding a parallel movable bridge to the west of the existing. The recommended improvements by the PD&E re-evaluation will be moved forward to final design.

Final design and preparation of construction drawings and specifications for the design of a grade separation of World Drive over the Magic Kingdom entrance parking road. This facility connects the existing World Drive North to World Drive South allowing patrons to circumvent the Magic Kingdom parking plaza. The interchange also provides ramps to Vista Boulevard. The project includes roadway widening and reconstruction, three (3) new bridge structures, and relocation of communication, electrical, water and sanitary utilities.

Line and grade, final design and preparation of construction drawings and specifications to provide direct access from I-4 westbound to a new parking garage (under construction at the time) along Buena Vista Drive. This new roadway is a L.A. facility on a new alignment from I-4 westbound to the garage. This contract involved two phased construction plans, one for a new slip ramp (off the existing I-4 westbound to SR 536/EPCOT Center Drive northbound ramp) and one for an interchange at Buena Vista Drive (BVD). This project involved three (3) new bridges and required close coordination with the Florida Department of Transportation District 5.

EPCOT Resorts Boulevard Bridge Replacements, Orange County, FL

Final design and plans production to replace two bridges on EPCOT Resorts Boulevard to accommodate the required improvements to the L-403 canal. Resort entrance, is a single span, 113′-6″ long by 61′-3″ wide, 3-lane Florida I-45 girder bridge with a 6′ sidewalk. The bridge was constructed in phases to allow for removal and replacement while maintaining two lanes of traffic around EPCOT Resorts Blvd at all times. The east crossing of the L-403 canal, east of the WDW Boardwalk Resort entrance, is a single span, 100′-0″ long by 41′-8″ wide, 2-lane Florida I-36 girder bridge with a 6′ sidewalk. Both bridges were supported on 18″ PPC pile bents with rubble riprap slope protection.

Final design and preparation of construction drawings and specifications for the extension of World Drive from the intersection of Floridian Way/Maple Road to south of the intersection of Floridian Way/Seven Seas Drive. This new four-lane roadway includes three (3) modern roundabouts to provide access to Seven Seas Drive, the main entrance to a resort and the resort service area. The project includes a new 100-foot, single-span bridges over the L-405 Canal (Pilot Canal).

Final design and plans production to replace the superstructures and provide pier strengthening for EPCOT Center Drive EB over World Drive and EB & WB over the EPCOT Entrance Road. The EB bridges are both single lane, 27′-9″ wide replacements consisting of AASHTO Type II & III girders. The World Drive crossing is a four span bridge 221′ long and the EPCOT Entrance Rd crossing is a four span bridge 284′ long. The WB bridge over the EPCOT Entrance Rd is a four span, two land bridge, 234′ long by 41′-1″ wide replacement, consisting of AASHTO Type II & III girders. All bridges required pier strengthening utilizing carbon fiber wrap methodology.

This project will add one general-use lane in each direction and a 12-foot multi-use trail along the north side of SR 528. This project includes three interchanges at Banana River Drive, SR 401 and George King Boulevard as well as replacement of five twin bridges at Sykes Creek, Banana River Drive, Banana River Relief, Banana River and SR 401.

Final design and preparation of construction drawings and specifications for this $368M project that adds two managed lanes in each direction for seven miles of the HEFT. This project involved four interchanges at NW 106th Street, US 27 (Okeechobee Boulevard), NW 170th Street (DDI), and I-75 (tying of the I 75/HEFT interchange Design-Build improvements to ultimate HEFT typical section); widening three existing twin bridges, replacing two existing twin bridges, three new ramp bridges, two temporary bridge widenings and two temporary bridges; six toll sites and 11 permits and permit modifications. This project involved extensive coordination with 11 major stakeholders including FDOT-6 and MDX.

TLP, as a subconsultant, provided maintenance of traffic plans for this project to stabilize three segments of SR A1A (Segment 1 – from S 28th Street to S 22nd Street; Segment 2 – from S 22nd Street to S 9th; Segment 3 – from N 18th Street to Osprey Drive) due to damage caused by Hurricane Matthew. The project required coastal analysis and modeling to deliver cost-effective engineering solutions that addressed future storm surge, wave action and anticipated scour depths. In addition to analysis and design, the project required review of access to properties adjacent to SR A1A in conjunction with the appropriate traffic control plan, provision for maintenance of pedestrian and bicycle traffic, restoration of signing and pavement markings and a permanent ban of beachside parking along these three segments of SR A1A to properly establish dune vegetation.

TLP, serving as a subconsultant, provided engineering services to prepare a Bridge Hydraulics Report for the US 17/92 CSX bridge over the St. Johns River. The existing CSX bridge was modified for use by SunRail by removing and replacing the sub/super-structure for 115 feet of the north end of the bridge. Three special ditches and one cross drain were designed for the five-mile mainline track. In addition, QC services for the VMSF preliminary drainage design were provided.

TLP, serving as a subconsultant, provided roadway design, drainage design and environmental permits for this project to reconstruct the existing I-75/SR 64 partial cloverleaf interchange facility from the existing six 12-foot travel lanes (three in each direction) to a diamond interchange. The project widened 0.807 miles of I-75 to a 10-lane roadway with two express lanes and three general-use lanes in each direction. The interchange improvements also required structural modifications to the existing I-75/SR 64 bridges, the replacement of the existing I 75/SR 64 entrance and exit ramps and widening 0.910 miles of SR 64 from east of 64th Street Court E. to west of Grand Harbour Parkway to accommodate the additional turn/thru lanes and traffic signals required at the SR 64 entrance ramp and the I-75 exit ramp intersections.

TLP, serving as a subconsultant, provided roadway design, drainage design and environmental permits for this 7.7-mile widening project. This project widened I-75 from four lanes to six lanes and included widening of the I-75 bridges over N. Raintree Boulevard, N. Yorkshire Street and New Castle Waterway. Drainage design included storm drains, cross drains and stormwater management facilities. The project also included preparation of a Bridge Hydraulics Report, a SWFWMD permit and TMDL analysis.

TLP, serving as a subconsultant, provided seawall and structural concept and final design plans for a 3-mile segment of this waterfront trail. Phase II plans identified the Riverwalk location along Lake Monroe; creatively used gravity retaining walls to overcome site space constraints; identified public fishing areas and associated parking; and provided modifications to US Highway 17-92. The Riverwalk completed a vital east/west trail connection linking downtown Sanford with future trails to the north and south, creating a regional connection to downtown. It connects with the future Terwilliger Trail, providing access to points south, including a critical connection to the SR 46 commuter rail station.

SR 20 Widening from SW 56th Avenue to CR 315, Putnam County, FL
TLP, serving as a subconsultant, provided drainage design, post design and environmental permitting for this SR 20 widening project that increased capacity, provided a safer roadway and connected existing widening projects to facilitate east/west movements across the state. The design widens SR 20 from a rural two-lane undivided roadway to an urban four-lane divided roadway from SW 56th Avenue to CR 315 in Interlachen. This project includes the CR 315/SR 20 signalized intersection, a raised median, bike lanes, a five-foot sidewalk on the north side and a 10-foot multi-use asphalt path on the south side of SR 20. Permits were required from ACOE and SJRWMD.
